Vrock is an unlikely myth and an Easter egg in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.

Description[]

Vrock is a vulture-like demon from the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game. The name of the heavy metal station in GTA Vice City, V-Rock, is rumored to have been derived from the name of the demon. The official logo of V-Rock includes a vulture as its mascot. It is likely that Vrock was referenced by Rockstar because of the immense popularity of Dungeons & Dragons during the 1980's. Also during the 1980's, a moral panic swept the nation as both Dungeons & Dragons and heavy metal music were considered gateways to satanic behavior. The reference was first found by glenster on Neoseeker.[1] Vrock, however, doesn't physically exist in the game as birds the size of Vrock are nonexistent in Vice City, leaving the myth as unlikely but with a handful of references.

Trivia[]

  • In GTA San Andreas, there is a casino in Las Venturas named the V-Rock. The hotel is a parody on the Hard Rock hotel and casino in Las Vegas.
