The Dodo is an Easter egg in Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto V.
Description[]
The Dodo is an aeroplane which is half-winged. It is the only pilotable aircraft in GTA III. With a lot of patience and practice, the player should have no problem flying it.
The plane's name is a reference to the flightless bird of the same name, mocking how the aircraft is difficult to control.
Flying the Dodo is the only way to reach the Ghost Town and view Hidden Game Designers' Names without using mods.
For years, there were rumors that the wings were cut after the September 11th attacks, but in actual truth, Rockstar stated:

The Dodo was never meant to be flown very much at all, and it certainly wasn’t grounded as a result of 9/11 – it was just a fun thing that people then went crazy with when they figured out various bugs that let them fly it! | ” |
A vehicle known as the DeadDodo can be found flying above Shoreside Vale and the ocean. Originally, the DeadDodo was intended to fly across all of Liberty City, but the last minute addition of a large skyscraper in Portland would give the impression of the DeadDodo crashing into the building. After the September 11th attacks, the Dodo's flight path was changed to just the Shoreside Vale mountains. However, the original flight path can still be seen if the player owns a very early European or PAL version of GTA III.
How to Fly It[]
Step 1[]
The one should line the plane up at the end of the runway and gain speed and make the plane lean forward until the one sees sparks to appear.
Step 2[]
Once the sparks appear, the one should stop leaning forward and then they will see the plane begin to take off. When the plane is in the air, the one should level the plane with the ground. After that the plane will move forward somewhat and begin to descend. The one shouldn't worry, because it's normal. After descending a little bit the plane will begin to rise automatically.
Step 3[]
Now to keep the plane flying all the one needs to do is to lean the plane forward every so often when the nose begins to raise too high. The one should also make sure to keep the plane at full speed and never lean the plane upwards. If that is done, whether intentionally or unintentionally, the plane will plummet to the ground.
